Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has sacked a teacher identified as Emos Joshua over the allegation of sexual harassment. The teacher is a Principal Assistant Education Officer at Government College, Azare.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Information and Public Relations Officer (IPRO) of the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Saleh Umar, made available to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday, September 11.
According to Vanguard, Umar explained that the CSC’s decision was approved during its 32nd plenary held on September 11. He explained that the teacher’s action was against Section 0327 of the state’s Public Service Rules, concerning sexual harassment.

The statement also quoted the commission’s chairman, Ibrahim Muhammad, who reportedly explained that there were disciplinary proceedings on the officer’s matter, which was in line with the established regulations of the CSC.
Muhammad also reiterated the commitment of the commission to fairness and transparency in dealing with staff matters. Bauchi is the second state in Nigeria where civil servants would be sacked over misconduct.
